My Journey

In all my years of practicing family and cosmetic dentistry, I’ve always focused on treating the “whole” person — how the shape, shimmer, and glow of a healthy smile will make you feel during every aspect, every relationship, and every moment of your cherished life.

"I make it my personal responsibility to stay on the cutting edge of dental technology and training."

To do this, I've aways worked to bring the latest dental advancements to our practice; taking control and applying my continued education and living up to the quality dental care I know people of all ages and backgrounds deserve.

The Jouney to AACD Accreditation

While every dentist is a health professional, some dentists are more knowledgeable, experienced and skilled when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. Accreditation by the AACD serves to set standards for excellence in cosmetic dentistry and requires dedication to continuing education, careful adherance to protocols and a resolve to produce exceptional dentistry.

Dr. Horn is an accredited member of the AACD. What does it take to achieve that elevated status?

Clinical Cases

The clinical case submissions allow the dentist to demonstrate diagnostic skills and clinical excellence. Five specific types of cosmetic dental treatments have been chosen to cover a variety of techniques. The cases include photo documentation, radiographic documentation, and a written report. Each case is examined anonymously by a panel of 5 examiners.

Oral Exam

The purpose of this is two-fold. One is to provide the dentist an opportunity to verify and authenticate passed casework. Questions may include case selection, diagnosis and treatment planning, or materials and techniques. The second purpose is to provide the dentist an opportunity to demonstrate their treatment planning abilities. The dentist will be presented with a pre-selected case and invited to formulate a treatment plan which will be discussed with examiners.

Accreditation

With the successful completion of the oral exam, a dentist becomes an Accredited Member of the AACD. A recognition ceremony and presentation of the award will then be held at the next scientific session.

I love working as a cosmetic dentist in the St. Paul area.

Over the years of working as a family, restorative and cosmetic dentist, I have made incredible friendships and even better smiles. I even designed Serene Oaks Dental to reflect this joy and caring philosophy I hold so dear.

What would you say to people considering to restore beauty and confidence to their smiles?

I would say that the things they are afraid of — exuberant costs, painful procedures, grueling appointment times and dental anxiety of all forms — those things don’t exist at Serene Oaks compared to other dentists in St. Paul; I’ve made sure they don’t. However, the only way for for them to find out is to see for themselves. I guarantee we live up to and exceed the cosmetic and restorative dental results you see in our patients around the area.

What else is there to wait for?
